Breast Cancer Prevention Program

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce created the Breast Cancer Prevention Program in 2011. This program helps uninsured women receive free mammograms. The program is co-sponsored by St. Mark’s Hospital, Lone Peak Imaging Center, and Utah JAZZ sportscaster Craig Bolerjack.  Ginger Johnson, founder of Happy Chemo, recently donated $5,000 to the foundation!

How the Program Works

Through the free mammograms provided by St. Mark’s Hospital and Lone Peak Imaging Center women are able to receive a free mammogram screening. The Chamber then provides the financial costs, through its 501(c)(3) foundation, for a follow up diagnostic for those women whose mammogram tests positive. If breast cancer is confirmed in the diagnostic the Chamber and its co-sponsors help these women get access to additional services and funding for the additional care required.

Qualifications for the program

• Women 40 years old or older
• Uninsured
• Limited income
• No breast complaints

Sponsors and Grants

Since the program’s inception in 2011 the Breast Cancer Prevention Program has received grants from Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Coldwell Banker.
The program has also received anonymous donations from other corporations and individuals throughout the area.

Donating to the Breast Cancer Prevention Program

Your donations help provide care and save the lives of women in the area. If you would like to make a donation to the Chamber’s 501(c)(3) Foundation please contact the chamber office.

All donations go directly to the Chamber’s 501(c)(3) Foundation making them a charitable tax deduction.

Golf Tournament

Each year the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce holds the Craig Bolerjack Golf Classic. The golf tournament includes a raffle, live auction, and other sponsoring opportunities to raise money for the Chamber. In addition, a portion of the monies raised from the golf tournament go to support the Breast Cancer Prevention Program.
